Week 6 - Architectural Possibilities - HELP

HELP //
In our future scenario, with knowledge provided from an autonomous virtual AI, we have the power to share this knowledge throughout the entire world. Many poorer, isolated communities are now able to benefit from being able to tap into this pool of solutions to problems they face. In a sense, this is a user-friendly library, not needing the ability to read, write or know where to look.  But the problem still exists to how to reach those communities so remote they cannot readily access a virtual network or cannot afford the infrastructure for the interface.

Help is a solution to this issue. It is a drop in system that provides the community, no matter how small, with a link to the virtual network of the chorus. The artefact should be a self-powered machine via the use of photovoltaic cells and should be relatively low cost to construct while still being robust enough to last in extreme climate conditions.  Using a long range aerial, the individual artefacts can form a wireless mesh network, allowing the technology to reach remote areas without the need for a physical Ethernet connection for all devices.

While there are cost effective phones and computers available for developing communities, help goes one further in creating a landmark site of collaboration and learning in the community. This can be compared to a public library or learning institution, which draws people seeking questions and answers together and symbolises a common desire to better our understanding and lives. As well as providing a gathering point for the local community, help also creates the sense of the larger virtual community of which they are a part, leaving a sense that help is always out there and available.
