For my design I have decided each story has a unique radius from which that story can be heard. As default, stories are given a 10m diameter as when first uploaded. Users are given the choice of rating whether the stories radius should grow (the story is relevant to a larger area) or smaller (the story needs its specific location for effect). After each rating the radius slowly grows or shrinks depending on their interaction.
I have chosen to do this as I believe a story based on location is a fairly unspecific thing. A location can be a cupboard in a house as much as an entire city or country. For this reason, I am leaving it to a rating system as to the relevance of a story. With this interaction, it is a further way of creating an engaging user experience. I also believe it is too challenging to decide on the radius internally, as it would mean for a curator to go out to every site and listen then decide based on their knowledge of the area. I think it is far more effective to have the users who frequent that area deciding this kind of thing.
